Used IHC Hydrohammer S-30 IHC Hydrohammer with powerpack, available for rent or sale. Perfect for steel piles as this is the only hydraulic hammer that can drive steel on steel without using any cushion for 100 % energy transfer into the pile. Nitrogen accelerated to 2G, hammer can be used for raked piling without any energy loss and it can also be used for horizontal piling. Hammer can do backward piling, generated 50 blows per min at full energy and if needed, energy can be reduced and hammering accelerated to 300 blows per min.

Hydraulic impact hammers drive piles by lifting a ram hydraulically and dropping it onto the pile head. Compared with diesel hammers they give closer control over the energy in each blow, which makes it easier to follow a driving specification and to avoid damaging the pile.
They are used on bearing piles of all kinds — precast concrete, steel tube and H-section — both onshore and offshore. Ram weight and rated energy per blow are the headline figures, and both should be matched to the pile and the set you need to achieve.
Frequently asked questions
How is a hydraulic hammer different from a diesel hammer?
A hydraulic hammer raises the ram with hydraulic power, so the energy per blow can be adjusted precisely and the hammer keeps working consistently in soft ground. A diesel hammer relies on combustion and needs enough resistance to keep cycling, but is self-contained and simpler to mobilise.
What determines the right hammer size?
Mainly the pile type and weight, the bearing capacity required and the ground. The ram should be well matched to the pile: too light and the pile will not move, too heavy and you risk damaging the head.
What should I check on a used hydraulic hammer?
Ask about the condition of the ram, driving cap and cushion, and the state of the power pack and hoses. Where the seller has them, recent driving records or service history are worth requesting.
